Response
to “Why woman smile”
“Why women
smile” is an article which explains why people smile in some situations, the
effects of the smile and the history of women’s smile. Author takes herself as
an example at first, people who know her well can get the right information
behind her smiles and even know her moods change as her smiles change. This
example teaches reader that the information you get from one’s facial
expression like smile is not always right. People even can hide their true
emotions by changing the way they smile.
Author also
talks about the reason why we smile. People started to smile from baby. People
always smile for some reasons, like babies smile in reaction to tickling
feeding. And the fight attendances, who are always female, smile to contain
customers. Other than this, the history of women’s smile lead to the way we
smile today.
Women are not allowed to smile in 15th
century, women always had a serious face in the paintings that time. After
that, the limits began to loosen. There are more facial expressions in women’s
faces. In the 1800s, women’s smiling faces began to appear in some ads. And
since that time, smile became a “fake” expression gradually. Author hates fake
smiles, and so do I. I think smile is a perfect way to show one’s happiness and
kindness to others. If everyone try to hide their true emotions under smiles,
it would be harder for people to communicate.
