Response to “why the marriage plot need never get old”

 This essay is about whether the marriage plot needs to update or not as time pass by. Author uses many words to talk about the “Madame Bovary”, which a classical novel about marriage. Author analyzes the plots of the “Madame Bovary” and discusses whether these still attract readers or not.

 Author’s opinion is that marriage plot need never get old, and so do I. According to the essay, what actually attract readers are the characters, the way they act and their emotions, but not the ways plots presented. And there are other novels that different from “Madame Bovary”, they have a happy ending. But how the story ends is not important. We should think more and dig out the meanings behind the story. This kind of marriage novels is not only telling readers a sad story or a happy story, but they also convey readers the people’s attitudes toward the marriage. The connections between marriage and love never change, and that’s why the marriage plot need never change.
