           Response to RuPaul, Big Freedia, and the Mainstreaming of Gender Performance 

This is actually a short article that introduces RuPaul’s show and people’s attitude to the gender-variant performers. When I am reading the article, I find it’s interesting at first that pronouns for RuPaul are “she”s. As I read further, author introduces that people who perform in his show all use interchangeable pronouns. It has became a symbol of male-to-female performer. Rupaul’s show is extremely hot currently, which makes Rupaul not only a man who performs as a woman, but she is also a successful business man, supermodel, a Billboard-charting singer, and a media mogul. She plays multiple-roles in her life.

This article also introduces some interesting parts in some seasons of the Rupaul’s show. Some excellent performers like Carmen Carrera and Freedia, who come from RuPaul’s show, are popular these days. I think the aim of talking this much about how successful RuPaul’s show is and many excellent performers in the show is to show reader that people nowadays can accept these drag queens like RuPaul. Just like Freedia sings “ Don’t give your love, I want your money, money, money…..”, the entertainment world is big enough to contain all kinds of shows. People nowadays look shows not because the actually car about the concept the show carried, audience just watch shows like RuPaul’s just for fun. And RuPaul are happy to see this, her finally aim is to earn money.
